Carla S. Cooper, 61, of Prairie Village, Kansas, peacefully passed away at home early Saturday morning, February 12, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Carla was an extraordinary woman of God who joyfully and unselfishly served her family, friends, church and community with an unconditional love and loyalty that reflected her Savior, Jesus Christ. Bor August 24, 1949 to charlie and Bea Francis, also of Prairie Village, Carla grew up and then raised her family with her husband Randy in the Prairie Village area. Carla was blessed with excellent musical and theatrical talents as well as accomplished leadership skills. THose gifts were shared in service professionally and voluntarily as a National Training Consultant at Franklin Covey for over 15 years and as a leader and a deacon at Leawood Baptist Church. A Chiefs cheerleader at Super Bowl I, Carla graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School and Baylor University as a Kappa Kappa Gamma member. Carla is survived by her husband Randall K. Cooper and their three children, Corrie Cooper of New York, New York, Callie Hopping and her husband Greg of Canton, Mississippi, and Collin Cooper and his wife Meredith of Durham, North Carolina. Other survivors include her brothers Paul Francis and his family of four of Indianapolis, Indiana, David Francis and his family of seven of Overland Park, Kansas, and Steve Francis and his family of seven of Overland Park, Kansas. A visitation service will be held on Monday, February 14th, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Leawood Baptist Church, 83rd and State Line Road. The Celebration of Life service will be conducted by Pastor Mike McKinney beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15th, at Leawood Baptist Church followed immediately by a Reception of Joy.
