

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Carmen R Cantu, who departed this life peacefully at home at the age of 92 surrounded by her loving family. A woman of quiet strength, and unwavering love, she leaves behind a legacy that will continue to bloom in the lives of all who were blessed to know her.
Born in La Cienega, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Jose and Apolonia Chavira Ramirez, Carmen, one of nine children, lived a life marked by resilience, and devotion to her family. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always generous. Her strength was undeniable, and her influence will not be forgotten.
A viewing followed by a Mass in her honor will be held on Thursday, September 4th, at 9:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2910 Strong Ave, Kansas City, KS 66106, where we will gather to celebrate her life and spirit.
She will be laid to rest on the following Thursday, September 11th, at 11:00 am, at Mt. Moriah Newcomer & Freeman Memorial Home, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131, surrounded by her loved ones.
Carmen was preceded in death by her husband Jose Guadalupe Cantu, Sr., sons, Gilbert R. Cantu, Sr., and Daniel Cantu, daughter, Sonia B. Johnson, and nephew Jose Matias Cantu.
She is survived by her four children, Jose G. (Olivia) Cantu Jr., Linda (Mike) Hitze, Angelina Vallette, Martin (Jennifer) Cantu, 23 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward with pride and affection.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with loved ones who went before her, and that her spirit lives on in every act of love we share.
