Carol Jean Bland

Carol J. Bland, 75 of Leawood, Kansas passed away on October 20th, 2016. A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 26th, from 6-8 pm, at McGilley State Line Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Thursday October 27th. Contributions may be made to the ALS Association in Carol’s name.

Carol was born on February 19th, 1941, in KCMO. She attended Park Hill High School where she was very active in all school activities including cheerleading, and she was Homecoming Queen. She attended college at University of Central Missouri where she was a member of Sigma Kappa and met her college sweetheart and future husband of 56 years, David Bland.

Carol was a homemaker and later worked as a hairstylist for over 45 years. She was an active member of the Red Hats Society. She was an energetic and caring person who always looked out for her family and friends.

Carol leaves her husband, David Bland, her daughter, Denise Bland Gutierrez and her husband Marcel, her son, Mark Bland and his wife Beth, four grandchildren, Stevan & Carly Gutierrez, Emily & Hannah Bland, along with her two brothers Charles Shikles and his wife Linda, and Larry Shikles and his wife Karolyn and their families.
