

She was born December 29, 1941 to E.D. Sikes & Corinne Faye McConnell in Wichita, KS.
Carol, the 3rd child of eight children attended high school in Rich Hill, MO, graduating in 1959.
Carol retired from the City of Blue Springs, Mo with 26 years of service. Over her career she worked as a dispatcher, secretary to the Chief of Police, secretary for Economic Development and as an evidence technician for the Blue Springs Police Department.
Carol was a member of American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 499 of Blue Springs, MO where she served as Chaplain for 4 years. She enjoyed organizing luncheons for the veterans.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald Sikes; 5 sisters – Linda Motter, Beverly Siebert, Mary Steinert, Sharon Cox, & Donna Tarter; her husband of 19 years, John W. Hyer, Jr.; her fiancé, David McClelland & her son, Douglas Abbott. She is survived by her daughter, Crystal Stahl (Joe) of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Angela Strickland (Terry) of Buckner, MO; step-son, John W. Hyer III (Sherrie) of The Villages, FL; step-daughter, Sheila Kellner (Sonny) of Warsaw, MO; brother, Gary Sikes of Rich Hill, MO; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; her best friend, Mary Allinder of Blue Springs, MO; & many nieces & nephews.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 10:30 am at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home, 11924 E. 47th St., KCMO, with graveside services at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
