She grew up in the heart of the city, attending Saint Peter’s for grade school and Saint Teresa’s Academy for high school. She continued her education with one year of college at Saint Mary’s before later graduating from Fontbonne College.
Right out of college, she married Bob Miller and soon welcomed four children. She loved to explore the world and eventually turned that passion into a travel agency of her own. Her creative spirit also led her to pottery—she even bought her own pottery wheel and kiln. Tennis became another lifelong love, and she shared that enthusiasm as the women's tennis coach at Avila College.
But above all, she was remembered for her extraordinary hospitality. Her home was a gathering place, a refuge, a celebration waiting to happen. Her doors were never locked, and no invitation was ever required. Anyone who walked in knew they were welcome, and anything in her bar or kitchen was theirs to enjoy. In her later years, she traveled extensively with her Family and friends. She also got to spend a lot of time with her grandchildren passing along the kinds of lessons that parents often leave out.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother a grandson and lifelong love of 52 years Bob Miller.
She leaves behind four children, 15 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her generosity and love of travel.
In lieu of flowers The Miller Family recommends a donation to Carol’s favorite charity “Conception Abbey.”
