Carol Haworth Price, who was born on March 23, 1944, at The Willows Maternity Sanitarium in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends after a life defined by devotion, generosity, and grace.
Carol was the beloved daughter of Donald D. Haworth and Garnet Marie “Peggy” Haworth, owners of the former Willows Maternity Sanitarium, a historic institution founded in 1905 by her grandparents, Cora May and Edwin P. Haworth. The Willows represented an important part of Carol’s heritage and identity, and she remained deeply proud of her family’s legacy and its impact on generations of Kansas City families.
On November 17, 1973, Carol married the love of her life, Edward Cramer “Bud” Price II, in the Combs Chapel at Country Club Christian Church. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, friendship, and community service.
Carol is survived by her children, Christopher Haworth Price (Angela), Matthew Warren Price (Kolton), and Edward Cramer “Tuck” Price III (Gregg); and her treasured grandchildren, Emma Marie Price and Colin James Price, children of Christopher and Angela. She was endlessly proud of her family, whom she lovingly described as her “biggest success.”
An honorable mention to her animal companions: Lady, Barrett, Sadie, Charlie, Newman, Maci, and Bree, all of whom brought her great joy throughout the years.
Carol’s education reflected both determination and a lifelong love of learning. She attended Sunset Hill, Border Star, and Southwest High School before graduating from The Barstow School in 1962. She continued her studies at Colorado Women’s College and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kansas in 1970.
Following graduation, Carol taught first grade for five years at Overland Park Elementary School, where she nurtured and inspired young students with kindness and patience. In 1974, she joined her husband in the family business, Colonial Patterns, Inc., where she served as Vice President, Consultant, and in Product Development, contributing her creativity and dedication to the company’s success.
Faith was an enduring cornerstone of Carol’s life. A devoted member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church since 1973, she faithfully served the parish through the Altar Guild and as Acolyte Treasurer.
Carol dedicated countless hours to volunteerism and civic involvement throughout Kansas City and beyond. She was a longtime member of the Junior League of Kansas City beginning in 1974 and became a Sustainer in 2003. Her many volunteer commitments included Children’s Relief Association at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Wayside Waifs Animal Shelter, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the American Cancer Society, Junior Women’s Philharmonic, Belinder Elementary School and Indian Hills Middle School PTA, the Salvation Army Children’s Shelter, Rose Brooks Center, Kansas City Country Club, and the Ventana Canyon Community HOA Architectural Review Board in Tucson, Arizona.
Carol was also a member of Ventana Canyon Golf & Racquet Club in Tucson, where she enjoyed treasured friendships and time spent with family.
As written by Carol from her own heart:
“Please always know that my first loves are forever my husband Bud, children Chris, Matt, & Tuck. I was blessed with two grandchildren Emma and Colin who are the light of my life. I have been blessed since my adoptive Mom and Dad took me as their daughter. From that moment on, my love and my future were determined. I have been more than fortunate to have the life I had for so many years. Another blessing was to be a part of The Willows story by Kellee Parr… it is the story of the start of a life well lived. That was a huge part of my being the person I would always be. All of my family… My biggest success!! I am so proud. Thank you God for all those blessings.”
Carol will be remembered for her warmth, elegance, unwavering loyalty to those she loved, and a lifetime devoted to family, faith, and service to others.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 2nd, 10:00 am at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 6401 Wornall Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64113.
Reception to follow 12:00 pm at Milburn Country Club, 7501 W. 69th Street, Overland Park, KS 66204.
