Carole J. (Schleicher) Mucke

Carole Mucke of Independence, MO, passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014. Carole was born July 25, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She spent most of her life in Kansas City where she was employed at KCPL for over 30 years. After retiring, Carole filled her days helping and doing for others. She volunteered over 1,800 hours at the Folly Theater, earning her the Tempest Storm award and also loved working with the children in a local therapeutic horseback riding program. She was active in the Altar Society with her church family at Nativity of Mary in Independence. Carole also loved to travel and went on countless trips, both here and abroad, with friends and family.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Genevieve Schleicher; her brothers, Bill and Joe Schleicher; her sister, Betty Barrett and a great nephew, Cameron Nash of California. Carole is survived by her sister, Joanne Nash of California; nieces, Cindy (Jeff) Jones of California and Janine (Scott) Wheeler of Florida; nephews, Mike (Sandy) Nash and Daniel Nash (Akemi Uchida) of California; nieces, Mary Ann (Gary) Batson, Jenny Scheve; nephews, Mike (Lori) Barrett, Paul (Erin) Barrett, Gene (Anna) Barrett, all of Kansas; niece, Kara (Steven) Carter of St. Louis and numerous great nieces and nephews as well as a loving extended family of cousins and close friends throughout our area.

Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Nativity of Mary Church, 10010 E. 40 Hwy., Independence. Visitation at 10 a.m. and rosary at 10:45 a.m. preceding Mass. In lieu of flowers, Carole had requested donations to the Nativity of Mary Church Fund or any donation to animals in honor of her beloved pets, Coco and Chico.
