

Carolyn was born on February 15, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri to William Edward and Clara Marie Godfrey. She grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Paseo High School in 1951. Carolyn graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Elementary Teaching and was also an alumna of Tri Delta Sorority.
Once leaving K State, she went to work for TWA airlines as an airline stewardess. She was one of the original members of TWA Clipped Wings. Carolyn left TWA to start her elementary teaching career in the Kansas City school district. She met her husband John Crump, and the two married on June 9, 1957. She belonged to St. Peter’s United Church of Christ and was a member there for 50 years.
After raising her four children she became a travel agent at International Tours for 17 years, travelling extensively to see most of the world. Carolyn was a multifaceted woman with many hobbies. She was a part of many clubs including a Book Club and an investing club called Women of Wallstreet. Carolyn had a passion for antiquing and finding treasures that had history. She was deeply loved by her family and friends, who will never forget her smile and laugh. She had a demeanor that would light up a room and make people gravitate towards her.
Carolyn was preceded by her husband John Crump, parents and brother Kenneth Godfrey.
She is survived by all her children; Sean, John II, Mark, and Carolyn “Lyn”, along with her grandchildren; Elizabeth , Wesley, Emily, and John III.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Floral Hills Funeral Home (7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64133).
A memorial service will follow on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Floral Hills Funeral Home (7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64133).
We will conclude with a graveside service on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens (7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64133).
