She leaves two daughters, Shaun Fisher Young and husband Craig of La Quinta, California, Ronda Fisher Griffin and husband Chris of St. Louis, Missouri and grandchildren Jennifer Griffin and Grant Griffin. She will also be missed by her family in Florida: sister Deanna Toot Allsman and nephews and nieces Harold Tool and wife Nanette, Carol Brawner and husband Bill, Andrea McWhirter and husband John, and Clark Allsman as well as sister-in-law Sue Green, stepsons Phillip Green (and wife Laura), Steven Green (Renee Ramsey) and grandchildren Alexandra Green, Jennifer Green, Nicolas Green and Kiely Green.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Violet Toot, her husband Roger Green, and her sisters, Betty Toot and Brenda Hoge.
Born in St. Joseph, Carolyn grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from Southeast High School. She lived in the area her entire life, making homes in Independence, Raytown and North Kansas City. She was a member of Blue Ridge Boulevard United Methodist Church and then Platte Woods UM Church, and she was a long-time volunteer at the Hillcrest Platte County thrift store.
Carolyn loved helping others and keeping busy. She was a devoted caretaker for her family, including her parents and their friends in their later years. She worked as an assistant to the president and receptionist for many years for the American Polled Hereford Association and then Farmland where she enjoyed planning travel and events. She loved the North Lakes neighborhood where she and Roger built their dream home in the late 80s and made many treasured friendships. She also adored dogs and was known for walking many miles with her mini-schnauzer Heidi. She kept an immaculate yard, and if you were looking for Carolyn, she was probably taking care of the lawn…or cleaning something.
Throughout her entire life, Carolyn was a social butterfly. She had a lifelong love of dancing, a nice glass of wine and music. When she and her first husband Torance Fisher lived in Raytown, they were known for their New Year’s Eve bash.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated caregivers and staff at The Burlington Creek Senior Living who enriched Carolyn’s life with their kindness, and everyone at Ascend Hospice for their compassion and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations or support of choice to the Alzheimer’s Association.
