Carolyn (Furnish) Jennett, age 93, of Prairie Village, Kansas passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024. Carolyn was born on December 11, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Lindenwood College, St. Charles, Missouri in 1951 with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Music.
Carolyn worked as a Third Grade Teacher at Ashland Elementary School, Kansas City, Missouri, from 1951 to 1954. Through the relationship of Carolyn's mother and her future Mother-In-Law, she met Jack Jennett who she married in 1953. Her son, Brian, was born in 1956 and her daughter Linda, was born in 1960.
Carolyn was actively involved in music, books, gardening, genealogy, and family life. In her later years, she became an active member of the Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church. She played several years with the Handbell Choir, developed many deep friendships in the Book Club and maintained her love for the Rolling Hills Music Department.
With a lifelong love of the piano, Carolyn regularly played for many weddings, recitals, and church services. She also played the organ at her favorite churches in the area. It is only fitting that she passed away on 4/4.
She is survived by her son Brian N. Jennett; daughter, Linda J. Daugherty; and grandsons, Cory N. Jennett and Daniel L. Jennett; and penpal Chuck Charles.
The family would like to thank Thoughtfulcare for the around the clock care and compassion they showed Mom in her final days. St. Luke's Hospice also aided Mom with her medical needs.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation for Carolyn which will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131, followed by a graveside service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carolyn's memory may be made to St. Luke's Hospice; and Friends of the Johnson County Library.
