Catherine Bernice Brogan

Catherine “Katie” B. Brogan passed away peacefully on September 2, 2015. Katie was the daughter of the late Jack and Altha Graham. She was born October 17, 1918 in Columbus, Kansas. She was raised and attended school in Columbus. Later, Katie moved to Topeka where she worked for the State.

Katie married Zack A. Brogan on May 17, 1945. They met in Topeka, KS and were married for 44 years. Their first of three children was born in 1947. From that time on, Katie devoted herself to raising her children and creating a warm and loving home. She loved planting her flowers and you could often find her baking cookies for her children and grandchildren. Katie was an avid golfer and bowler. She was happiest spending time with family and friends.

Katie is preceded in death by her husband, Zack A Brogan, her parents, two brothers, and four sisters. Katie is survived by her children and their spouses: Mike Brogan (Nancy), Dave Brogan (Michele) and Carol Bruggen (Greg) and grandchildren: Shawn Brogan, Carrie Hagan (Mark), Dan Brogan, Zach Bruggen and Alex Bruggen.

The family suggests contributions in Katie’s memory be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64114.

A visitation will be held Friday evening, September 4, 2015 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Mount Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO. A private entombment is planned.
