Catherine "Cathy" S. Cole, 60, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away January 3rd, 2012 at Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 5th, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 6th at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the University of Kansas School of Nursing, in memory of Cathy Cole, or to Kansas City Hospice House. Cathy was born March 26th, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a beloved wife, mother, teacher and accomplished researcher. Dr. Cole devoted 35 years to the field of nursing. She was an Associate Professor at the University of Kansas School of Nursing. Her research was in the area of sleep and dementia. Cathy enjoyed reading, walking her dogs, as well as, watching movies, and listening to good music. She was preceded in death by her mother Wilda Green and her father Adkins Sullins. Cathy is survived by her husband Elwood Cole; son and daughter-in-law Shannon and Erin Cole; son Zachary Cole; brother Gene Sullins; sister Pat Suiter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
