Catherine Muller, 91, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2020. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 1001 E. 52nd Street, Kansas City, Missouri, on Friday, October 9, 2020. Burial services to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. one hour prior to the Mass.

Catherine was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 19, 1928 to Grover and Katherine Crowley. She graduated from Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, Hogan Catholic High School and the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She received her Master’s in Education at Webster University.

Catherine was an accomplished vocalist and pianist, performing on the stage at Starlight Theatre in Kansas City. She sang for countless weddings and funerals accompanied on the organ by her dearest friend Jeanne Blanck. Catherine and Jeanne were avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. The Chiefs were playing the Baltimore Ravens the night Catherine passed and of course they won the game, no doubt, for the both of them.

Catherine was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Ladies of Charity, National Education Association, Association of American Educators, the Kansas City Federation of Teachers and the Ancient Order of Hibernians of Kansas City, celebrating her Irish heritage. She was a teacher in the Kansas City Missouri School District for forty years in elementary and music. Catherine inspired many young people to enter the field of education, including her daughter and granddaughter. Teaching was her great joy.

Catherine and her husband Jim were world travelers. They traveled the world with many great friends. Ireland, China and Switzerland were among their favorite countries to visit...but they were always happy to get back home.

Catherine was a devout Catholic. She was a member of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was a member of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary and said the entire rosary every week. Catherine was united in marriage to James Muller on November 12, 1955. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2005. Together they had three children, James Brian Muller (Janice), Valerie Ann Shehata (George) and Thomas Murray Muller (Kristen). Also surviving are six grandchildren, Daniel, Katie (DJ), Laura, Grace, George and Libby. She was preceded in death by her husband James, her parents Grover and Katherine Crowley and two brothers Frank Crowley and James Crowley. Also preceding her in death was her grandson Christopher Muller.

Catherine spent her life in service to others. She instilled in her children and grandchildren a strong faith in God, love of family and kindness and service to others. Her children and grandchildren were very proud of their mom and grandma. They loved her beyond measure and will miss her terribly.
