

Cecil “Houston” Green, 67, Kansas City North, passed away November 8, 2011 at Northcare Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, November 11th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be sent to Northcare Hospice.
Houston was born June 15, 1944 in Kansas City and was a 1962 graduate of Westport High School. Following graduation he served 4 years in the U.S. Army in Germany. He is survived by his loving wife Darlene, his children and their families, Apryl Green and Shane; Mandy Sanders, Rachel and Nicole; great grandchildren, Kaelon and Oliver; his step-children, John (Kara) Higgins, Jonathan, Courtney and Traci; Julia (Tony) Kalwei, Ashley, Samantha and Jacob.
Houston was a proud teamster for 31 years, retiring from ABF in 1998. Following retirement he had what he called his “fun job” as an engineer on the Worlds of Fun train. Houston loved the Lord and was a member of Tower View Baptist Church. He was a past board member of the Maple Park Neighborhood Association. Houston and Darlene loved to travel and always looked forward to their yearly Lake Tahoe trip. Houston had friends to numerous to mention but especially loved the staff at Ameristar Buffet. Our family would like to thank the staff at Northcare Hospice for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time.
