

Cecilia Maria Westhoven, 88, of Kansas City, MO passed away August 11, 2010. Visitation will be 4-6 PM Sunday, August 15th at McGilley Antioch Chapel. Memorial Mass will be 6:00 PM Monday, August 16th at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be 1:30 PM Tuesday, August 17th at Resurrection North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Our Lady of Mercy Country Home or Holy Family Catholic Church
Cecilia was born September 8, 1921 in Reese, Michigan. She graduated from Siena Heights College (now University) in 1943 with a B.A. in Music and a Minor in Education. For several years after graduation, she was the accompanist for the Saginaw Civic Chorus, and taught 5th grade. She was a member of the Saginaw Music Club.
Cecilia married Lowell Joseph Westhoven on July 19, 1947 in Reese, Michigan. She had been a Kansas City resident since 1954. She was choir director for 30 years at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish, and also a piano accompanist there for 8 years. She accompanied the Maple Woods Choir and the voice teachers there, was a piano accompanist at Penn Valley Community College and had been the accompanist at Holy Family Catholic Church since 1998.
Cecilia was a member of the Kansas City Music Club for many years, and also was a volunteer at Our Lady of Mercy Home in Liberty where she put on music programs for the residents and accompanied at religious services.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell; parents, Albert and Cecilia Light; a sister Agnes Kunz; and 4 brothers, Melvin Light, Wayne Light, John Light and Albert Light.
Cecilia is survived by Barbara Reres (Joseph) of Alexandria, VA, Michael Westhoven of Kansas City, Susan Campagna of Kansas City, Steve Westhoven (Marsha) of Kansas City, Chris Robson (Bruce) of Stuttgart, Germany, Becky Imlay (Jeff) of Leawood, KS, 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers, Norman Light of Bridgeport, MI and Robert Light of AuGres, MI.
