A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM, with Visitation starting at 10:00 AM, at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64119. Burial will follow services in Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, KS.
Charlie was born in Kansas City, MO to Henry S. and Catherine (Raab) Bockes on December 30, 1930. He graduated from De La Salle Military Academy on May 23, 1949. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army where he served during the Korean War and Vietnam. He retired from the military in 1971 after sustaining a combat related injury. He was awarded the Veterans Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart. Following his service, he married Martha Gahagan in May of 1982. They spent 32 years together until her passing in December of 2014. Charlie was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7356.
Charlie is preceded in death by both of his parents; and brother, Henry Bockes. He leaves behind his sons, Bob (Patti) Gahagan and Chris Gahagan; grandchildren, Kristina Hannan, Kara Carlson, Samantha DeBauche, Grant Gahagan, Morgan Gahagan, and Miranda Gahagan; great-grandchildren, Gage Hannan, Owen Hannan, Nova Carlson and Sophia DeBauche; and sister, Louise to cherish his memory.
