Throughout his career, Charles owned and operated several bars in his early life. Later, he worked for the IRS, from which he retired in 2013.
Charles was married to Charlene Nanneman on July 24, 1993. He is survived by his wife, five nieces, and one nephew. He is preceded in passing by his parents, his brother Dale Gehrs, and his three sisters, Lou Scott (Don), Laura McCabe (Max), and Mindy LeRoy.
In his personal life, Charles enjoyed playing golf in his younger years and was an avid fan of watching football and baseball. He had a passion for reading, with mysteries being his favorite genre.
Charles resided in Kansas City, Missouri, at the time of his passing. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
