I'm sorry to hear of Charlie's passing, love to the family

Mark, Linda, Janet:

So sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad!  He was such a "great" Guy and always such a "straight shooter".  I have many wonderful childhood memories of Him and your Mother!  I remember your Dad always working long hours driving a truck, but he always managed to be home on Sundays when the Chiefs were playing at home, and he was at the game.  We always thought he was rich because he was the only person in the "neighborhood" that managed to have season tickets.  He was never a "fair-weather" fan, he went to the games when it was extremely cold, and when the Team was crummy.  I remember he loved to watch sports on TV, and sometimes he would come outside to watch us and the Nelson's play football in the old Lady's yard next door to your house.  He was always a good and fair man who earned and had peoples respect.  He was also a devout man who never lost his faith.  You all can be very proud that you had a Father like this!  May he rest in peace.

I have many fond memories of my "Uncle" Charlie.  He was patient, funny and kind. My deepest condolences to you Mark, Rhonda, Linda and Janet.  Love to all.

I will greatly miss Charlie. He was a blessing in my life. My love and prayers to out to all his family and friends. 

Charlie was like a grandfather to me. We met one Saturday evening at mass at St. Gab's many years ago. In fact, there was many a time that I thought my deceased grandfather had sent Charlie to me. My grandfather died the spring before I started medical school. I relocated to KC for medical school and within that first year of my grandfather being gone, I met Charlie. We chatted at mass and slowly a friendship grew. He sometimes fondly reminded me of my grandfather which was a comfort. We shared family stories and over time it felt like we had become family.

Charlie was a blessing in my life. We shared stories about family, football and faith. Charlie had a gentle spirit and a big heart. His face lit up when he talked about his grandchildren. He was proud of his family. He was a man of faith, a beautiful spirit. I can't say enough good things. I am so grateful that God made our paths cross. His memory will live forever as will his love. I wish his family comfort and peace. I wish I could be there to say goodbye.

Charlie was a lovely,  kind man and it was a privilege to know him. He had a wonderful,  contagious laugh and he always gave the most awesome hugs.  There is a special place in heaven for you my friend.  
I will never forget you.

I am grateful for the life of Mr. Long.  Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.

Charlie was filled with goodness. So sorry to hear of his passing. Our sincere condolences to Charlie's family and friends.

They just don't make 'em like that any more.  He loved you all dearly and I know you are going to miss him so very much.

I didn't know charlie for very long, but he was a blessing the many times I was around him.  Such a sweet spirit.   Loved watching his family care for him during this short time as well.  Their love for him was inspiring!  I will miss him. You all are in my prayers.

  More like a father than a grandfather you were always there for me and our family.  I'll always cherish the great summers we had together and the good times that we shared.  We'll miss you papa.

I was introduced to Charlie my first day at Hy-Vee, October 17,2011. At that time I did not know anything about the  kind and wonderful man I had just met.  

Over the next couple years and several pieces of Charlie's bubble gum, I was able to get to know Charlie as we shared several conversations. I looked forward to joking about my travels and talking about KU basketball with him. One of my most fond memories of Charlie was a time when I told him I was going to ride around in his grocery cart and pretended to crawl in.  He sure got a kick out of that. I just loved being around him...everyone did.

All it took was hearing Charlie's friendly and familar whistle through the aisles and my day would be made. He would always be there with a smiling face, Starbucks, candy,and a good squeeze. He spoiled us gals in the pharmacy and we loved him.  I am so blessed to have known Charlie.  We will miss him! We love you- YOUR Pharmacy Gals

Linda, so sorry to hear of your father's passing.  May your memories and family bring you strength during this time.  Know that your Hallmark fam has you in our thoughts as well.

Connie and I are so sorry for your loss. Your dad was a wonderful and kind man. I will always remember the great times my parents had with yours. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
