Charles Lauvern McNeece

Charles Lauvern McNeece, a 92 year old resident of Harrisonville, Missouri passed away on April 3, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Kansas City.

Lauvern was born on December 28th, 1928 to Oden Jessie and Phoebe Estelle “Skipper” McNeece. He joined the United States Army when he was 18 and served in the Korean War. Lauvern married Sharon Sue Frazier on July 4th, 1954. She preceded him in death on April 17th, 2010. Lauvern worked at Wonder Bread as a Mechanic for over 20 years.

After retiring they moved to Trenton, MO for 13 years before moving to Harrisonville to live on his son’s farm. Lauvern was a devoted Christian and was a member of Joyful Sound Worship Center. Lauvern enjoyed working on classic cars, the Western Channel, and reading his Bible.

Survivors include four daughters and one son: Rhonda Sullenger and her husband Richard, of Taneyville, Whonda Foust and her husband Marvin “Jr." of Belton, Brian McNeece and his wife Barbara, of Harrisonville, Pamela Foust and her husband Bill of Trenton, and Lisa Bucher and her husband Art of Cartersville, Georgia; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include 1 brother Johnnie McNeece and his wife Donna. Sister-in-law Clarice Lawrence and her husband Gary and sister-in-law Mary Frazier.

Lauvern was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Jenny-Belle, 2 brothers Robert and Harold McNeece, 2 sisters Helen McNeece and Louise Craig, and an infant granddaughter Gabrielle Bucher.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 7th, 2021, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road in Kansas City. There will be a visitation an hour prior to the funeral. Pastor Mike Cronk will preside over the service. Burial will be in the Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City.
