Charlotte M. Byrnes

Charlotte M. Byrnes, 97, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 4th, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, KCMO; with burial following in Ft. Leavenworth Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., where the Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to AlphaPointe Association for the Blind (alphapointe.org) or Sisters of St Joseph (CSJ Advancement Office, Avila University, 11901 Wornall Road, KCMO 64145 Attn: Barb Roberts).

Charlotte was born July 24, 1918 in St Paul, MN. She married James D. Byrnes on July 24, 1945 moving to Kansas City in 1958. Charlotte was an active volunteer at the Plaza Visitors Center and at St. Joseph’s Hospital where she earned over 7,000 volunteer hours in her 30 years of service. As a homemaker she was active in her daughters’ Girl Scout troops. She also enjoyed sewing and needlework.

She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her daughters Teresa (Wayne) Wiebold , Elizabeth (David) Brunson and Mary (Daniel) Corless; her grandchildren, Michelle Johnson, Colleen Johnson, Katharine (Travis) Clark, Matthew Brunson, Andrew Brunson, James D. (Heather) Corless and Christopher (Andrea) Corless and great-grandchild, Emilie Charlotte Corless.
