

Cheryl Lynn Voorhees Collins, 74, of Overland Park, KS, died at 1:57 PM, Friday, March, 29, 2019 peacefully at her home with family and friends at her side. She was born on Thursday, December 14, 1944 in Kansas City, MO to Vera S. Cook Barr, and Harold J. Voorhees. She married Wade H. Collins II on Saturday, May 26, 1979.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold J. Voorhees, mother, Vera S. Cook Barr, stepfather Kenneth D. Barr, and brother Dale Willert.
She is survived by her husband, Wade H. Collins II and daughter, Christina M. Saavedra both of Overland Park, KS, her sons Curtis W. (Micah) Collins of Ft. Collins, CO, Wade H. (Tina) Collins III of Wichita, KS, 10 grandchildren (Maria Collins, Vanessa Saavedra, Gabriella Saavedra, Mary Alyce Collins, Teresa Collins, Ilianna Saavedra, Korynne Collins, Rachel Collins, Hudson Collins, and Camilla Collins), and 2 nephews (Dane and Melody Welt of Wesley Chapel, FL and Darin and Kathy Welt of Oak Hill, VA).
She was a long time resident of Overland Park. She graduated from East High School in Kansas City, MO.
She was always quite active with members of her high school classmates in supporting their ongoing meetings and activities. She will be missed by her family and many friends. She passionately followed the Kansas City Chiefs (where she worked for a few years) and the Kansas City Royals. Her favorite hobbies were sewing, reading and communicating with people; particularly family and friends on Facebook. Her vocations included receptionist, administrative assistant and building and property management.

Visitation is Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 5-7 PM with the funeral Friday, April 5, 2019 at 12 PM both at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home & Cemetery 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133 816-353-1218. Burial immediately following the funeral on the cemetary grounds at the Garden of the Good Shepherd. The family will receive guests at 3:00 PM at home Friday, April 5th.
