

On the evening of November 6, 2014, Christopher F. Connolly passed away in his home surrounded by family and friends. He was 63 years old. Chris was born July 26, 1951 in Worland, Wyoming to C. F. Connolly and Rhea Kearney. When he was 16 years old, he joined the home of his foster family, Betty and Harold McCord. After completing school at Shawnee Mission North, Chris was drafted into the US Army where he bravely served his country in Vietnam. At the completion of his Army service, he re-enlisted to serve as a proud member of the US Marine Corps.
Subsequent to his military career, Chris met Adela to whom he was married for 19 years and together raised 3 children. He is remembered to commonly use the metaphor "3 strands of rope" to remind his 3 children that they are stronger together than apart. His life was later blessed by his current wife Alona. Chris and Alona were married for 13 years until Chris' passing. He is often remembered telling happy stories of their home together in the Philippines. Chris has always lived life to the fullest. He was known for his strong will, outgoing nature, and ability to live every moment to its greatest capacity. With Alona by his side, Chris traveled the world and was able to spend his time with his family and friends in the United States and the Philippines.
Chris is survived by his wife, Alona, his brother and sister in law, Dean and Alice Heath, his children, Katie Connolly, Kristen and husband Mike Sample and Kit Connolly and fiance Eve Edelheit and his grandchildren Lindsey and expected granddaughter.
A Memorial Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Church, 1357 NE 42nd Terrace, Kansas City, MO; with burial to follow in Leavenworth National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.. The family request contributions to Veterans of Foreign Wars in Chris’ memory. On behalf Chris, the family would like to extend their love and thank you to all the friends and extended family that have been a part of his amazing life.
