Clara Virginia Goucher

Virginia was one of seven children born to Ora and Margarite Peterson. She was preceded in death by siblings Florence Johnson, Bud Peterson and Don Peterson, and survived by sisters and brother; Laura James, Ed Peterson and Ann McKenzie.

Virginia married Jerry Dale Goucher on March 23rd, 1951 and the couple spent 62 loving years together before Jerry’s passing in November of 2013. The two had four children; Jerry Dale Goucher JR (wife Rhonda), Debbie Sells (husband Brad), Cathy Matlock, and Paula Speer (husband Dennis). Virginia enjoyed her 9 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and her 4 new great-great grandchildren.

Virginia retired from Wausau Insurance after 23 years of employment. She and Jerry spent their retirement years traveling and enjoying life. She was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church for many years. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening and watching her bird feeders for finches. One of her favorite activities was a monthly coffee with her friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, December 13th, with visitation at 1:00pm and funeral at 2:00pm.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the ASPCA, or a local animal shelter, in loving memory of her faithful companion Bruiser.
