Clarence “Bud” R. McGinnis, 87, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2015, in Independence, MO. Bud was born in Nedoesha, KS to C.R. and Gladys McGinnis. Bud married Ruby Fern Smith in 1945 in Kansas and was a loving father and husband. He retired from General Motors in 1980. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ruby, a son, C.R. McGinnis III, and sisters; Frances, Maxine, Leota and Ila Ruth. He leaves behind his wife of 17 years, Barbara McGinnis of Independence, MO; daughter, Mary (Ralph) Smith, of Sibley, MO, sons, Raymond of Independence, MO, David (Judy) of Independence, MO, and a daughter-in-law Diana McGinnis of KCMO; a stepson, Brian (Kim) Foster, stepdaughter, Melodye (Steve) Nicholls; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2PM, Monday, February 9, 2015, at Floral Hills. Burial will follow. Visitation will begin at 1pm at the chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association. Bud’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Villages of Jackson Creek Memory Care.
