Clark Jerome Elliott, lovingly known as "Jerry," passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospice House after a brief stay. He was 88 years old and would have celebrated his 89th birthday on October 8.
Jerry was born in 1937 in Elmer, Missouri, to Clark and Esta Elliott. He grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family, faith, and community. He graduated from the University of Kansas, beginning a lifelong devotion to the Jayhawks that never faded. A proud KU alumnus, Jerry could always be counted on to cheer for the Jayhawks and proudly wear crimson and blue.
Jerry spent his professional career with Montgomery Ward, where he rose to management before retiring after many years of dedicated service.
In 1959, Jerry married the love of his life, Laneita Welch. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and friendship. They shared more than 60 years of marriage until Laneita's passing in 2022. Their greatest joy was raising their two sons, Brett and Scott, and watching their family grow through the generations.
Jerry loved spending time with his family and treasured every opportunity to gather with those he loved. His family knew, however, that if a University of Kansas game or a Kansas City Chiefs game was on television, it was best to clear the room and let Jerry focus on the action. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed countless rounds with friends and loved the camaraderie that came with the game. His grandchildren will fondly remember that Jerry did what they all agreed was the very best Donald Duck impression, a talent that never failed to bring smiles, laughter, and lasting memories.
Faith played a central role throughout Jerry's life. He served as a Deacon at Longview Chapel and remained deeply connected to his church family. Even when his health no longer allowed him to attend services, his faith remained steadfast and his church community continued to be an important source of comfort and encouragement.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Esta Elliott, and by his beloved wife, Laneita Elliott.
He is survived by his sons, Brett Elliott and Scott Elliott; his grandchildren, Dawn Elliott (Jesse Koch), Jason Elliott (Ashlyn), Megan Hicks, and Kevin Elliott (Jessica Nicholas); and his six beloved great-grandchildren, Grace, Layton, Corbin, Preston, Emberlee, and Ezra.
He is also survived by his dear friend, Mary Ann Harler, whose love, friendship, and devoted care enriched his life and brought him comfort in his later years. Mary Ann was at Jerry's bedside when he passed, a lasting reflection of the special bond they shared.
Jerry will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, his devotion to his faith, his loyal friendships, and his enthusiasm for the teams he followed so passionately. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and love that will continue through the generations of family and friends who were blessed to know him.
Jerry will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who loved him.
Rock Chalk, Jayhawk.
