Obituary of Clyde Kenton Jones Jr.
Clyde K. Jones Jr. of Olathe, KS passed away May 12th, 2022, age 87, after a courageous battle with Vascular Dementia. Clyde was born August 11th, 1934 in Tulsa, OK to Velma (Blue) and Clyde “Doc” Jones Sr. After graduating from Will Rogers High School, Clyde joined the US Army and proudly served as a Corporal while stationed in Germany during the Korean War. When Clyde returned to the US, he graduated from Oklahoma State in Economics and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. It was at Oklahoma State that he found the love and light of his life, Marilyn Friedemann. Marilyn and Clyde were married on January 26th, 1957. After graduation from Oklahoma State, Clyde worked at Great Lakes Pipe Line and then had a very successful career at Allstate Insurance Company, eventually becoming Regional Vice President. After retiring in 1983, he and Marilyn relocated to their “happy place”, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. In 2004, Clyde and Marilyn returned to Kansas City to be close to their children and grandchildren. Together they loved golf, KC Chiefs, and KC Royals. Clyde was an excellent cook, lover of Merlot wine, and loved to travel with his beloved Marilyn. Clyde is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn, son David Jones (Misti), daughter Julie Beard (Rob). Grandchildren: Kyle Jones (Megan), Calli Martin (Curtis), Dr. Daniel Jones (Maechelle), Reilly Schultz (Brent), Madison Beard (Kyle Compton). Great Grandchildren: Ava, Emma, and Luke Jones (Kyle and Megan), Jackson Jones (Dr. Daniel and Maechelle), Willow and Nash Martin (Calli and Curtis), Huxley and Hank Schultz (Reilly and Brent). A private memorial service for immediate family members will be held on Friday, May 20th. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project, Alzheimer’s Foundation, or KC Pet Project. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Jones family.
