was born July 18, 1940, to the late Jim and Leona Marolf. Connie accepted
Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Grandview. Her life continued to be a testament to her faith and we
know she is enjoying a reunion with loved ones in Heaven today.
Connie was a 1958 graduate of Grandview High School and was married to her
high school sweetheart, Michael Edward Neal, for 63 years. The couple began
their married life in Baldwin City, Kansas, moving back home to Grandview in
1961, where they raised their four children, later moving to Peculiar in 1987. The
couple started the family business, Neal Settle Printing, Inc., in 1963 where they
worked side by side until their retirement in 2014.
Connie was involved in many high school activities and loved her time in the
marching band as a percussionist and drum majorette. As a teen, Connie was a
member of Bethel #38 of the International Order of Job's Daughters. She was a
Past Honored Queen and, as an adult, served as an advisor for the bethel.
In recent years, Connie kept busy with friends, family, and projects. She enjoyed
working with the Grandview High School All-School Reunion Committee for many
years and also worked closely with members of Mike's graduating class to plan
reunions and gatherings. She was named an honorary member of the class of
'57 at the 50 year reunion.
Connie never lost the desire to learn and create. She was able to pursue her
interest in painting, attending art classes and enjoying the community of friends
who shared her passion. She even had the opportunity to display her watercolors
at several local exhibits. Playing games with friends and family, working jigsaw
puzzles, shopping, and weekend trips to Branson were some of her favorite
activities. She loved the daily swims that she and Mike shared, especially with
her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Connie's children will always remember the wonderful childhood she created for
them, including magical Christmas mornings, kickball games in the backyard, tiny
Barbie clothes made by hand and having dinner together at the family table.
Family was her purpose. Connie continued making life magical for her kids,
grandkids and great grand kids, celebrating birthdays, graduations, weddings
and successes of all kinds, and she was proud of each and every one.
Though Mike and Connie missed being able to see family and friends during the
pandemic, they treasured the extra time together that the last year gave them.
From planning shopping trips to playing pool, working puzzles and watching their
favorite programs, the two of them did everything together. And even after 63
years of marriage, they loved it that way.
Connie is predeceased by her parents, Jim and Leona Marolf, and sister, Dorothy
Brandom Roseman. She is survived by her husband, Michael E. Neal, children
Jacki Neal Stark (Steven), Michele Neal Latham (Brian), Rex Neal (Stephanie),
Scott Neal (Trisha), 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to join in a memorial service at 1pm on Thursday,
