

Consuelo “Connie” Capetillo Gonzalez passed away peacefully and returned home to her Lord on Saturday May 28, 2022. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 3 at Sacred Heart-Guadalupe Church, 2544 Madison, KCMO, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Connie was born on August 28, 1921 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Epolito and Maria Capetillo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maximilino Gonzalez; her parents; brother, Joe Capetillo; sisters, Grace Capetillo, Juanita Rangel, Carmen Aguirre, and Josephine Ramirez. She is survived by her sister, Frances Arzola (Salvador); stepdaughters, Margie Kempf and Vicky Ferro; and many nieces and nephews.
Connie was a devout Catholic. Prior to residing at Villa St. Francis in Olathe, KS, Connie lived in The Cathedral Square Towers where she was able to attend Mass on a regular basis. Connie had a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and she donated to various Catholic organizations such as America Needs Fatima. Connie was the matriarch of the Capetillo Family. In her early teens, after the loss of her mother and father, Connie became mother to her four younger sisters. She obtained various jobs to help support her family. In the early 1940s, Connie moved to Kansas City for work. Soon followed by her sister, Jenny, Carmen and finally sisters, Frannie and Honey. She worked in the City Market packing produce until the early 60s.
Connie loved to travel. She took many trips with her husband, Max, to Texas and Mexico. She can be remembered spending lots of time with her sisters, cooking and rolling fresh tortillas, gardening beautiful tomatoes, cilantro and peppers. She also loved to sew. Connie was deeply loved by her family and will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Villa St. Francis, Olathe, KS.
