Curtis E. Ottinger Sr.

Mr. Curtis E. Ottinger (Curt) was born December 1, 1926 St. Joseph, MO and entered into rest January 7, 2016. Curt grew up in St. Joseph, MO. He was the son of Mildred (Adams) Ottinger and Robert Ottinger. After graduation from high school, Curt joined the Army Specialized Training Program. Following the Army, Curt enrolled in Kansas University and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. On Sept. 2, 1949, Curt married Cecilia Wiezorek. They made their home in Kansas City and later in Leawood. Curt and Cecilia had two sons, Curtis, Jr. and Christopher. Curt was involved in many social organizations including being the President of the Kansas City Breakfast Club. He enjoyed attending Boy Scouts with his two sons. After over thirty years in the Commercial General Contracting business, culminating in the ownership of his own company, Curt retired in 1991. He and Cecilia enjoyed retirement by visiting 60 countries; spending time at their home in Estes Park, CO; and winters in Captiva, FL.

He was preceded in death by his wife Cecilia Ottinger and his son Dr. Christopher Ottinger Survivors include Curtis E. Ottinger Jr. (Shelley); daughter-in-law Jill Ottinger, grandchildren Stephanie Ottinger, Chris Jr. Ottinger, Amanda Ottinger, and Alexander Ottinger.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 13 at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, Kansas 66206. Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Entombment in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the charity of your choice.
