OBITUARY

Dale Coleman

June 17, 1944 – August 16, 2024
Obituary of Dale Coleman
IN THE CARE OF

Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home & Floral Hills Cemetery

Dale passed away on August 16, 2024 shortly after receiving liver cancer diagnosis.

He was born in Lebanon, MO one of 10 children. Dale lost his hearing at age 7 from Scarlett Fever. His parents died young and the children were taken in by relatives and friends. Dale lived with his Aunt and Uncle.

Dale lived in silence but always had a smile and wave for family, friends, and strangers. He left Lebanon moving to St. Louis to finally settle in Kansas City. He didn’t want to be called Mearl so he used Dale Mearl as his name. He worked at Western Forms as a welder. He then worked pressing clothes at Woolf Brothers, Jones Store, Pride Cleaners, Arrow Fabricare and Jack Henry.

He enjoyed woodworking, making furniture, and knickknacks. He also enjoyed gardening as it reminded him of times spent with his father. Dale was always ready to help without being asked. Prior to his current residence he would cut grass or remove snow at several elderly neighbor’s houses. Dale also loved watching the Royals and Chief’s.

He is preceded in death by his parents Mearl Olando and Bessie Fern Coleman, In-laws Myron Bush and Anna Caroline Stevens and siblings Lester Lavone Coleman, Hazel Faye Burns, Shirley Ann Duncan, Billy Ray Coleman, and Steven Coleman.

He is dearly missed by his wife of 48 years Betty Jo, siblings Barbara Tomlinson, Phyllis Swift, Phillip Hicks, David Coleman, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private Family Burial at Floral Hills. Donations may be sent to Kansas City Hospice.
