OBITUARY

Dale Duane Myers

October 9, 1956October 26, 2018

Dale D. Myers, 62, passed into eternity on Oct. 26th, 2018 after a diagnosis of brain cancer in Sept. of 2017.

Dale was born Oct. 9th, 1956 in K.C., KS to Charles Vernon and Helen (Thornsberry) Myers. Dale graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1975, earned a BS degree in business administration from CMSU, Warrensburg in 1978 and completed his MBA from Rockhurst College in 1989.

In 1979, Dale married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Sapp and began his career at KCP&L in 1981. Dale worked in several positions beginning with Purchasing and ending as a Project Manager. After 31 years, Dale took an early retirement at age 54. This allowed Dale and Nancy to pursue the things they loved to do. These things included traveling, mission trips and serving at their church, Antioch Bible Baptist. Dale felt it was important to encourage missionaries, men, and his friends.

Dale also loved to take care of his property and share it with others. His hobbies included oil painting, making crafts on his lathe and using his tools. He liked to fish, snow ski, riding bikes and most importantly hang out with the love of his life, Nancy.

Dale is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon and his Father, Vernon. Surviving family members include his mother, Helen, wife, Nancy, his 3 sons who he was very proud of, Matthew and his wife Jenny, of Wichita, KS, Kyle of Madison, WI, Scott and his wife Annette of Burlington, IA and 4 sweet grand-daughters, Corinne, Audra, Selah and Alexa.

Dale’s quiet and faithful way of living out his faith and love for Christ was an inspiration and example to many. He will be missed, but would not want us to grieve, and celebrate his graduation into eternity. He would want all of us to live out our faith every day and not give up when life is hard. Dale ran his race to the very end. May we all follow that example.

Welcome Home, Dale

Visitation will be held at Antioch Bible Baptist Church, 800 NE 72nd St. Gladstone, Missouri, 64118 on Thursday, Nov. 1st from 5:00-8:00 pm. Dale’s celebration service will be also be at ABBC at 10:00 am on Friday, November 2nd.

Lonnie and I will be unable to attend the visitation tonight. We know you are surrounded by many loving family and friends. We will be at the funeral tomorrow. I wanted to express our sympathy in case we do not get a chance to visit with you tomorrow. Mom ( Ruth) is not able to attend the funeral but her heart is with Helen and the rest of the family. We are planning on getting Mom to the city where she can see Helen one on one. Dale was a dear and gentle person. We have enjoyed your wonderful family photos on facebook. What an amazing and beautiful family. Love, Virginia

Dale worked for KCP&L but his heart was ministering to others. A year and a half ago Dale and Nacy stopped to talk to my wife and I as they were heading to serve the youth. (Our last week it KC)They have done so for as long as I can remember. From opening their home for the Forth of July and the best Youth activities to words of encouragement. This past week I have been flooded with memories. Showing Shane Glavin and I how to fillet a cat fish, that quick stop to Walmart after a soccer game so I wouldn’t pee my pants, or teasing me about burning burgers for a pool party. Their is a lot to celebrate. Thank you.

Dale meant so much to our family and so many others. A awesome man of God, he lived his life dedicated to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He loved his wife Nancy and was such an example to all of us on how to be truly one in marriage, partners through thick and thin!!! Incredible dad to Matt, Kyle and Scott your legacy will live on for generations. We celebrate your life well live brother. We will see you again walking the streets of gold!!!
