Born on March 14, 1937, in Kansas City, Dale was a beacon of love and laughter whose presence enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. Dale lived in Olathe, Kansas.
Dale was the son of Lee and Della Vaughn, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity. A proud graduate of Rosedale High School, Dale went on the serve his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force, forging lifelong friendships and memories during his military service.
After his service, Dale embarked on a fulfilling career with Burlington Northern Railroad, where his dedication and work ethic were an inspiration to many. Not content with just one vocation, Dale also pursued his passion for ranching in Fontana, KS.
An active member of First Presbyterian, Dale's faith was a guiding light in his life. He was known not only for his devotion to his community but also for his quick wit and humor, which endeared him to all who met him. His laugh was infectious, and his stories, full of wisdom and humor, will be cherished for generations.
Dale's family was his greatest pride and joy. He is survived by his loving wife, Janette; his devoted daughter, Cami Adams and her husband Troy; and his treasured grandchildren, Ashley Taylor and her husband Quinten, and Brad Owens and his wife Kenzie; and his three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Laura Griffin and his step-children, Dennis Mullins and wife Ruth, Douglas Mullins and wife Julie, and Debbie Valencia and husband Bob; and his many beloved step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his later years.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Della Vaughn, his son Kurt Vaughn, his first wife, Judy Vaughn, and his brother-in-law, Dan Griffin.
Services will be held on September 5, 2026, at New Hope Presbyterian 13310 S. Black Bob Rd, Olathe, Kansas, 66062. Visitation will begin at 10:30AM, with the memorial service to follow at 11:00AM. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
