Damian A. Florez

Damian A. Florez, a devoted, faithful, thoughtful, beloved, and intelligent soul, passed away on November 21, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on February 26, 1964, to Christina and Arthur Florez, Damian was a cherished resident of Riverside, Missouri.

In his early years, Damian excelled academically, graduating from Oak Park High School in 1982 with honors, ranking in the top 5% of his class. He pursued higher education and earned an associate’s degree in business. His academic achievements were a testament to his intelligence and dedication.

Damian was a kind uncle, deeply cherished by his nieces and nephews: David, Donovan, Julian, Celeste, Pharrah, and Elliot. His love for family was evident in every interaction, and he held a special place in the hearts of his two sisters, Maria Archer and Lisa Smith. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Antonio and Trinidad Florez, and Miguel and Juanita Garcia. He is survived by his parents, Christina and Arthur, his sisters, and a loving extended family.

A man of varied interests, Damian had a passion for science fiction, particularly enjoying series like Star Trek and Star Wars. He was an avid collector of memorabilia, finding joy in the stories and worlds beyond our own. His thoughtful nature extended beyond personal interests, as he devoted time to helping the homeless, demonstrating his commitment to community and compassion for others.

Damian's strong Catholic faith was a guiding force in his life, shaping his values and actions. His legacy of faith and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him.

A series of services will be held in his honor at St. Gabriel Archangel Parish, located at 4737 N Cleveland Ave, Kansas City, MO 64117. The Visitation will take place on November 29, 2025, from 9:00 am to 9:45 am, followed by a Rosary Service from 9:45 am to 10:00 am. The Funeral Mass will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. After Mass, the burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery (5001 NE Cookingham Dr, Kansas City, MO 64156).
