Daniel Ervin, 67, of Overland Park, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 21st. Dan was a strong Catholic, a proud descendant of Irish immigrants, and a lover of music, which he broke into easily at family gatherings and with friends, providing joy and smiles to those who loved him. Dan was generous with his clever wit, always fast to make a friend, and maintained many close, lifelong friendships. He will be remembered for his humor, his exuberance, and his love for his family. His absence leaves a hole in our hearts.
Dan grew up attending Guardian Angels Parish and was a graduate of the 1968 class at Rockhurst High School. He earned a degree in accounting from St. Benedict's College in 1972. He was a proud alumnus of each institution and always looked forward to reuniting with his classmates. Many remember Dan for his harmonica, which was often at his side at social events. He also played the piano, the guitar, and loved to sing. Family celebrations were blessed with the harmonies he created with his brothers and the musical Ervin clan. Dan found satisfaction in hard work, applying his accounting expertise to several companies over a long career.
The Ervin family would like to thank his health care team at the University of Kansas Cancer Center and the hospice workers at Vitas Healthcare, who helped him through his final years. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Deborah; his three children, Kate (Jonathan Byrd), Brian and Tim; his grandchildren, Abigail and Charlotte; his siblings, Pat (Kathy), Jed (Sharon), Bob (Susan), and Anne (Scott Noya); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In death, he joins his parents, Robert and Mary, and his brother Paul.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held Monday, December 18th at Holy Trinity in Lenexa, with visitation at 9:15 am followed by mass at 10:30. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Parish Office 9150 Pflumm, Lenexa, KS 66215.
