Our last team photo taken a couple of weeks before we retired. He was a great coworker, a good workleader, and a gifted instructor.

My condolences to the entire Jackson family.  I now reside in Tucson, so I am unable to be with you in-person.

Danny was one of a kind.  He was a smart, unique human who gave everyone the benefit of the doubt.  Unruly hair and a big smile...that is what I remember most about him.  Rest in Peace.

There isn't a time I can remember when I didn't know Dan. He was a true lifelong friend. We grew up together on Kenwood Avenue  in KCMO. He was the youngest of 10 children  in a large Catholic family,I was the youngest of six. We were very different in most ways. I was quiet,and tried hard not to be different from everyone else. Dan was the opposite. He did not care what anyone else thought. Sometimes,that was challenging for me. Yet from an early age,we were friends. He always accepted me for who I was. That was Dan. It seemed like we always hung out together-along with others from the neighborhood gang of kids. We had many adventures throughout life together. But not nearly enough. I last saw him in August of last year. We spoke for hours. When I left,we hugged and he said "love you brother". I am so thankful for that. I never thought it would be the last time.  To all his family, I am so sorry. He is already tremendously missed.

I first knew of the Jackson family 50 years ago when I performed on my cello in Brookeside and at Loose Park in the 1970's before Dan joined the Navy. I saw Dan in 2010 at the office. We talked about our adventures, the seas, climbing volcanoes. Dan's favorite symphonic conductor was Otto Klemperer. I told him I met his son Werner Klemperer. Dan's favorite film director was Kurosawa. I bought all 35 Kurosawa movies because of Dan's recommendation. Dan loved his family. He kept artwork of his daughter by his desk at work. One weekend, Sylvia and I greeted him and his son at the Shawnee Mission Festival in Fairway. Dan loved his church. God bless him and his family.

Go in grace Dan Jackson.  May you have an endless supply of funky eyeglasses, Hawaiian shirts, toe shoes (a fashion choice I still question), and Margarita's with Tajin on the rim.  

Thank you for good conversation, the loan of books, your movie recommendations, and our "foodie" talks among many other things.

You were my co-worker for so many years, but also my friend.  Damn it Dan Jackson I will miss you, never ever thought I would never see you again.   Rest in peace and comfort.

August, 1972. It was my first day at a new school, St. Peter’s Elementary School. I was a  shy little third-grader who wanted to be somewhere else. I was standing in line with all the other kids waiting for the doors to open and scared that someone would notice the new kid. Not helping matters much was the kid behind me who was chattering non-stop. I fretted over the spector of this loudmouth saying something mean to me. I was a little kid who had yet to learn about adapting to a new life. And then I heard another kid call him by his last name_ Jackson.

That’s where it began. I don’t know when we first interacted but it was on the playground. He knew a misfit when he saw one because he was a bit of a misfit himself. A friendship started there_ and it never ended.

Dan came from a big family and had three brothers. Fortunately, he accepted me as a surrogate brother. I’m gonna miss him like I’ve never missed anyone. But I still have 53 and a half years of great memories!

What a loss and a shock.  I send my condolences to Danny's family.  Danny always delighted my mother and father with his gift of gab and he was always welcomed at our table.  Throughout the years, Danny was a loyal friend.  He supported me in bad times, he celebrated and laughed with me in good times.

This feels like such a tragic loss.  Danny will always be fondly remembered by me.

So many funny stories from long ago that I can no longer recall and laugh about together with Dan. I feel like I lost a part of myself with Danny's passing.

A friend and co-worker who will missed.  Dan, you will be remembered and thought of often.

Very sorry to hear of this unexpected loss. I worked with Dan for about 20 years.
