With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Daniel Lorenz, who left this world too soon on June 9, 2025, just days before his 50th birthday. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend, whose warmth, wit, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him.
Born on June 13, 1975, to Peggy and Dave Lorenz, Daniel grew up with a love for the outdoors and appreciation for life's simple joys. Dan grew up in Kansas City where he attended and graduated from St. Thomas More Grade School and Bishop O'Hara High School in 1994. He served honorably in the United States Army. Dan worked in the wholesale plumbing industry for most of his entire career. He had an easygoing spirit, finding happiness in the company of his family, the beauty of nature, and the rhythm of everyday life.
Dan was a loving brother to Theresa (Jonathan) Dodds, Katie (Jason) Hendrix, and David (Kathryn) Lorenz, and proud uncle to his nieces Arwen and Emersen Dodds, and nephews Jameson Hendrix and Theodore Lorenz. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
A lifelong lover of the outdoors, Dan found peace in the gentle arc of a Frisbee through the air and the mesmerizing hues of a sunrise or sunset at the beach. Whether playing a casual game of disc golf or watching the sky change colors over the ocean, he was always most at home under the open sky.
Though his time with us was too short, Dan leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and unwavering love for his family. He will be missed beyond words and remembered always. We will carry his memory with us in every sunrise and sunset.
Dan's Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by Mass at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to make a donation to Journey to New Life, Inc., 3120 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64109, or honor Dan's memory by taking a moment to enjoy a quiet sunset, throw a Frisbee, or simply sit with those you love.
