Garrison on June 17, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the last of nine children born to
Thomas and Gertrude. He attended Scaritt Elementary School and graduated from Northeast
High School. He then decided to join the military in 1968, the US Army was his choice. Within 13
months of dedication and taking charge, he quickly rose to the rank of Sergeant and completed
a tour in Korea. He was Honorably Discharged in 1971. Danny was a hardworking man with a
friendly disposition and he truly cared about his clients and friends. He worked for
Commonwealth Theaters, Commerce Bank of Kansas City, The US Department of Agriculture,
Firestone Tire and Rubber Company gaining knowledge with each job to be used when he
would establish his own business fulfilling a dream to be his own boss and to help others as was
exhibited in his year-end review and proposed business goals that he set for himself each
coming year. Around 1980 he made the decision to make that dream a reality and began his
own business, Financial Status, which he ran by himself for over 40 years.
He excelled when it came to his education at Junior College and The University of Missouri
Kansas City all the while working either part or full time. Whilst always being inquisitive,
intelligent, and hardworking it came as no surprise when he completed two challenging
programs-earning his Bachelor Degree in History in 1969 and Master’s Degree in accounting in
1975. Many of his clients at Financial Status became his long-term friends joining those who
had known him since high school. Danny never became wealthy financially, but he certainly
became rich spiritually with friends old and young.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Gertrude Garrison; sister, Barbara
Sue Hixon (Don); brothers, Johnnie Dewayne and Thomas James Garrison.
Left to cherish his memories are his sisters, Shirley Lee (Jack) LaBruzzo, Marilyn Jo (Al) Hammes;
brothers, Glenn A. (Lynn), Ronald M. (Katherine), Michael D., sister-in-law Ronilue Garrison,
a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends. He will be
missed dearly.
