She was born on February 18, 1934 in Jackson County, MO., the daughter of Dewey and Elsie (Letzig) Edwards.
Darlene attended Kansas City Schools through the 7th grade. The family moved to Ballard, MO. in Bates County in 1947, where she attended 8th grade and Ballard High School. She graduated High School in 1951 and worked for Consumers Co-op for one year in Kansas City.
She was married the love of her life Francis Hoover for 62 years. They moved to independence where they raised their two children: Sharon Kay Hoover and Randy Hoover. After the children were in high school, she was employed at Tie Racks for 5 years and Woman’s World for 14 years. She enjoyed her Church Family at Eastgate Christian Church, where she was the First Woman Chairman of the board. Playing cards with friends, bowling and keeping active were her past times.
She is survived by: Son: Randy (Wife: Karen) Hoover, Grandson: Robert (Wife: Kari) Timme, Shaun (Wife: Sasha) Hoover, Ryan (Wife: Samantha) Hoover, Niece: Judy Beckwith, Great Grandsons: Nathan and Reid. Great Granddaughter: Presley. Darlene was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, daughter and sister.
A visitation for Darlene will be 1:00 PM, Friday, March 25, 2022 at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, followed by the committal service Floral Hills Cemetery.
