Truly a life well lived and one that shows us what kindness and professionalism really looks like, may the family find some comfort knowing you are in the thoughts and prayers of so many friends.

Sandy....I was so surprised about Dave's death. When we talked last June he seemed the picture of health. Among other things we talked about our flying days.
My sympathies to you and your family

We were bound as cousins not by blood but by Love. You brought so much joy and laughter to so many and that will truly be missed. Darrell and I will miss seeing you at breakfast each month but know it will not be in sadness but for the happy times we shared.
RIP knowing we will carry you in our hearts till we meet again.

I am so sorry to hear about David's passing. He was one of the first people that I had the pleasure to meet when I was hired on at the Police Department 29 years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.

David was a uniform patrol sergeant when I started my career in 1970. David was a good supervisor, always calm, reserved and most importantly, a good man. He was truly an asset to the Independence Police Department. Although I had spent the last 16 years out of state, I've thought of David often over the years and we last spoke of him at our last retiree luncheon.
May God Bless Sandy and David's family. Gary George

All my thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Captain Dougherty. David was the Captain at IPD that was in charge of hiring on the department when I started in 1990. He was the personification of professionalism and was a great role model for me as a new officer. My success in my career for these many years I attribute to Captain Dougherty, and those like him, who lived to serve the community.
