David Finkelstein, 84, of Lenexa, passed away January 23, 2012. He was born in Nyack, NY on September 2, 1927, to Benjamin and Violet Berman Finkelstein. He grew up in Haverstraw, NY. He served in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed at Pearl Harbor. He attended Samson University in New York. He later served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Bliss. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Univ., and obtained a BSEE. He met his one true love, Anita Engelberg, in February 1957 and they were married that June. She preceded him in death in 2007, after 49 years together. An engineer for Bendix Corp./Allied Signal, at the Bannister Federal Complex in Kansas City, he retired after over 35 years of service. David was an avid reader, a stamp collector, and enjoyed photography. He is survived by his sons Charles and fiancée Janet Cohen of Chicago, Victor and wife Laurie of Overland Park; grandson Zachary Finkelstein and granddaughter Gabrielle Finkelstein. Graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, at Mt. Moriah Cemetery South, 10507 Holmes Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Congregation Beth Torah, Overland Park, KS or the American Diabetes Assoc.
