Visitation is Monday, May 14 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO. Funeral service is Tuesday, May 15 at 1:00 PM at the same location. Following cremation, Dave will be laid to rest in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
Dave was born in Iowa City, IA to Fred and Opal (Humphrey) Freese on Nov. 19, 1931. He was raised in the loving home of his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Faber Freese Peavey in Iowa Falls, IA.
Dave graduated from Iowa Falls High School and attended Ellsworth Community College, Drake University and the University of Iowa at Iowa City.
He is survived by wife, Carolyn (Erganian) Freese; daughter Diane (Richard) Scott, Alberta, Canada; sons David Freese, Jr., Petaluma, CA, Paul A. (Susan) Freese, Hercules, CA and James (Jim) B. (Ruth Ann) Freese, Des Moines, IA; grandchildren Tasha Scott Rube, Daniel Scott, Megan Scott, Aaron Freese, Matthew Freese, Brian Freese, Amanda (Sean) Lawrence and Alicia Freese (Brian Siders) and great-grandchildren Tessa Rube, Izzabella Clapham, Josiah Lawrence, Kaylynn Haley and Briana, Jackson and Savanna Siders.
Preceding Dave in death are his parents, his beloved granddaughter Sheri Freese and special nephew, Christopher Huff.
Dave served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid golfer, duplicate bridge player who especially enjoyed beating his sons and grandsons at backgammon and cribbage. He bartended for years at the 19th holes of country clubs in Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. He ended his working years at the Internal Revenue Service. After moving to Kansas City, he especially enjoyed the company of Carolyn’s family in St. Joseph, MO.
