David W. Hewitt was born April 22, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri to Paul and Mary Hewitt. He passed away November 19, 2014. He attended Southwest High School and in 1960 graduated from the University of Missouri. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was longtime a member of Country Club Christian Church where he was a life deacon and also served at Crosslines food kitchen. He was employed by Shryock Realty Co. in 1961 and became president in 1981. In 1988 he became president of Hawley Realty Co, retiring in 2005.
David had a love of sports and anything related to MU. He coached little league and youth football for many years. He taught karate for 12 years where he obtained his black belt. He served for over 20 years on the board of directors for Country Club Bank.
He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Pattie, his daughter Stephanie, son- in-law Paul, and his beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son David.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 22, at the Country Club Christian Church Sanctuary. Private burial. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the City Union Mission.
