

He was born on February 6,1942 in Mascoutah, Illinois. He grew up there working in his family's banquet style restaurant. He graduated from Mascoutah High School, where he played on the basketball team and was student council president.
He worked as young Restauranter and Retailer owning a Western Auto Store and then joined his brother Wayne and spent the rest of his Career as a Warehouse and Transportation Logistics Executive for The Lanter Company.
He met the love of his life Rosemary Carlisle in Mascoutah, Illinois. They were childhood friends and attended Holy Childhood Grade School together. They began dating in High School, and married in 1962, a year after graduation. Together they had four sons who were raised in Illinois before moving to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1974. They moved to continue growing the family business and built their forever home in 1979.
He was actively involved in his Parish Community at St. Thomas More in the Knights of Columbus, Spaghetti Dinners, Sunday Collections and Seton House Food Pantry. He also served as a Director at the Community Of The Good Shepherd.
He was an exceptional leader at the Lanter Company. He was instrumental in expanding the company into the warehousing industry in 1983. He was respected by customers and associates alike. He was known to all as a tenacious worker focused on organizational excellence and pushing the needle forward on process improvement and new technology.
At home he was a jack-of-all trades and a skilled craftsman, building outdoor fences, decks and bridges for his family to enjoy. He was loved by his friends for his Joi de Vivre and his welcoming nature to all. In his retirement, he enjoyed a poolside cigar with his best friend Dennis Krupp. He was adored by his family, they were always his first priority and greatest love. In his later years his heart was filled with pure love and joy for Rosemary, his children, grandkids and great-grands.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elise Lanter; and his brother, Wayne Lanter.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Lanter (Carlisle); his sister, Ann Glaze; his sons, Christopher (Cindy) Lanter of St Louis MO, Timothy (Annette) Lanter of Parkville MO, Todd (Jessica) Lanter of Leawood KS, and Jason (Angela) Lanter of Liberty MO; his grandchildren, Elisa (Ethan), Lukas (Rachael), Alek (Megan), Blaise, Anika, Olivia, Ainsley, Emersyn, Macie, Adelyn and Brooks; and his, great-grandchildren Edison, Elias, Ewan, Greyson, Xayden and Roxyn.

Services for David will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026 at St. Thomas More Parish, 11822 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131. Visitation will begin at 12:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00PM. The committal service will take place after the service at 2:00PM in Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO, 64131. A Reception will follow the committal and the family invites all guests to join them to continue sharing memories of David's life at Mt. Moriah Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home.
