

Deborah Diane Lager, “Debbie”, was born to Bernard Benedict Lager and Lillian Darleen (Shanks) Lager in Kansas City, Missouri at the former General Hospital on September 29, 1956. Debbie died at Centerpoint Medical Center on January 5, 2025 from complications of kidney failure.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved cat, Momma Kitty.
She is survived by sister, Mary Lynn Lager, Warsaw, Missouri and brother, Bernard Lewis Lager, Franklin County, Kansas; nephew, Douglas Richard Kirby, Kansas City, Missouri; nephew; Shawn Michael Kirby, Belton, Missouri; niece; Sara Jane Darlene Lager, Bonner Springs, Kansas; nephew, Brandon Dean Lager (Sarah Marie Lager), Olathe, Kansas; and several grand nephews and niece.
Debbie graduated from Belton Missouri High School in 1974. She worked at Woolworths in Grandview, Missouri after high school and while attending college, Southwest Missouri Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri. Debbie earned a four year degree and a lifetime teaching certificate. After college she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and AT&T for 28 years. After her retirement, she was a substitute teacher in the Independence, Missouri School District prior to working for The Internal Revenue Service as a Service Representative until her retirement.
Debbie was a smart, hard-working, independent and kind person, with a smile that could light up a room. She enjoyed helping friends and family, including being a loving companion and caregiver for her mother and grandmother for many years. Debbie was always proud of her yard, where she spent countless hours mowing, trimming, and planting. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
