Della Mae Nesbit

Della Mae Nesbit, age 88, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at her home. She was born July 21, 1928, in Rich Hill, Bates County, Missouri, the daughter of Isaac Harrison Trout and Virginia Winona Finch. She was united in marriage to Joseph Homer Nesbit on May 25, 1952, and to this union one son and one daughter were born.

For several years, Della Mae taught elementary vocal music education in Butler, Missouri, and kindergarten and first grade in Kansas City's Hickman Mills School District. After her children entered college, Della Mae was employed by Cartwright Van Lines for over 15 years, spending a number of years as their Office Manager.

Della Mae enjoyed raising her children, gardening, and managing the operations of the Trout Stock Farm near Hume, Missouri, established by her family in 1893.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include her son, John Isaac Nesbit (spouse Glenna) of Jefferson County, Missouri; daughter Mary Jane Cary (spouse Walter) of Naples, Florida; four grandchildren, Tracy Lynn Cary of Lee's Summit, Missouri; Michael Tyler Cary (spouse Terri) of Independence, Missouri; Melissa Ann Dierker (spouse Tim) of St. Louis, Missouri; and Sarah Jane Nesbit of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Five great grandchildren also survive.

Visitation will be held at Mount Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, on Friday, May 26, from 6:00 – 8:00pm, with a Memorial service on Saturday, May 27, at 9:00 am, also at Mount Moriah. Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery. The family suggest contributions in Della Mae's memory be made to the City Union Mission, 1100 East 11th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64106; Kansas City Hospice, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, Missouri 64114; or another charity of donor's choice.
