Delores Burger went home to be with her Lord on Aug 2nd, 2023. Delores was born on February 12th, 1940, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Arthur and Bessie Prohofsky. Delores fell in love with Stephen Burger while ministering together at the Ober Boy’s Club. They Married in 1961. Shortly after their wedding they served as foster parents for one of the first integrated homes in the state. They continued to be co-laborers in Rescue Ministry in St. Paul, MN; New Castle, PA; York, PA; Seattle, WA and Kansas City, MO, where they lived on her beloved Lake Waukomis. It was Delores’ great joy to see the lake enjoyed by her family, friends and mission family. She also enjoyed traveling around the world with Steve visiting City Mission Ministries. Delores was a woman of many talents. Carpenter, Seamstress, Artist, Historian (for the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions, now known as Citygate Network) and Published Author (Women who Changed the Heart of the City) are a few of the many titles that come to mind. But the titles she cherished most were Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Godmother and Friend. Roles that all who knew her would say she greatly excelled at. Always ready with a listening ear and nuggets of useful wisdom, she had a lasting impact on so many. She will be greatly missed.
Delores is preceded in death by her father, mother and her sister, Joyce Kinzie.
Delores is survived by her husband, Steve; children, Eric (Robbyn) Burger and Linda (John) Neudorf; siblings, Dennis (Sandra) Prohofsky and Roy (Rosemary) Prohofsky; grandchildren, Caren (Corey) Wallis, Erica (Josh) Tumblin, Joshua (Laura) Neudorf and Karissa Neudorf; great grandchildren, Brayek, Brennan and Lachlan Wallis and Jubilee Tumblin.
