
Dennis Leo Wright, 89, of Lawson, MO passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 4, 2013. Memorial service will be Tuesday, October 15 at 2:00 pm at the Salem Christian Union Church, Excelsior Springs, MO. Dennis was born October 4, 1924 in Lowry City, MO to Taylor and Catherine (Cross) Wright. He was a WWII veteran and a prisoner of war, captured at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a lifetime member of the VFW #9997, a lifetime member of the American Ex-prisoners of War, and was also a 32 degree Mason. Dennis retired after 45 years of service from the Richards & Conover Steel Division. On August 20, 1957 he married Mary Jean Tompkins who passed away April 22, 2013. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Bill and Taylor Wright. He leaves behind two sons, Stanley Wright and his wife, Angela of KCMO & Dennis “Doc” Wright of Lawson, MO; two daughters, Elaine Crews and husband, Neil of Lexington, MO, & Kathryn Wright of Excelsior Springs, MO; one brother, Dayton Wright of Lowry City, MO; one brother-in-law, Charles Tompkins and wife, Carol of Independence, MO; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his companion, Baxter, his dog.
