

Denton Allen Dove, 71, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 9th, 12:00 p.m., at McGilley State Line Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice.
Denton was born in Plainview, Texas, on October 1, 1942. He grew up as an Air Force “brat” living in Texas, Colorado, California, Arizona, Missouri, The Philippines and Goose Bay Labrador, where he graduated from High School in a class of 15. In his first 3 years at Belton High, he excelled in football, basketball, baseball and track. He earned a degree in Psychology from California State University, Fullerton. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and rose to the rank of 1st Lieutenant serving in the Vietnam War, leading his troops in the battle of Hue City. He received a Bronze Star with a “V” for valor.
Denton loved nature and was an avid outdoorsman, skiing, hiking, camping, snowshoeing, biking and gardening. He summited 20 of Colorado's 14,000-ft mountains, most with his brother, Roland, who survives him.
Denton was preceded in death by his parents, Venita Nell and Denton R. Dove. He is survived by his wife, Mary Dove of the home; three stepchildren; Michael English (Sandy), Jennifer Camerlinck (Bryan), Brian English (Kari); and eight grandchildren; Alexis, Gwen & Eleanor Camerlinck and Elizabeth, Olivia, Jack, Will & Fitz English.
