She was born on February 12th, 1937, in Independence, Missouri where she grew up with her father, mother, sister and brother. She graduated from Central High school in 1955. She worked at Spencer Chemical as a secretary until the birth of her children when she transitioned to her true calling as a full-time stay-at-home mom.
Dixie’s passions included her love of nature and the great outdoors, she had a green thumb and knowledge of lots of plants and tree species, hummingbirds held a special place in heart… along with her 1972 Mustang. She was talented in numerous artistic mediums and enjoyed sewing and creating special cherished items.
Dixie was known for her truly amazing ability to remember literally everything! Her presents, energy & love is already greatly missed!
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Dan Davin, and her parents Louis Meador and Maxine Meador.
She is survived by her sons, David Davin and Doug Davin (Donna), her grandchildren, Kyle Davin (Aryana), and Kristen Davin, her great grandson, Bryce Davin, her siblings Ann Staats, and Leonard Meador (Sherry), along with numerous extended family members and dear friends.
Dixie set an example to her family and friends on how to be a loving and caring human being. She loved her cats and dogs, and all of nature’s creatures especially hummingbirds.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratefulness and a genuine thank you to all her caregivers for the thoughtfulness and compassion they showed to Dixie in her last year of life. With their care, it made it possible for her to remain in her home.
A private family service is planned.
