Dixie graduated from St. Aloysius Academy in 1953. On September 19, 1953, she married Robert N. Hill, Sr., beginning a life centered around family, love, and devotion.
Dixie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert N. Hill, Sr., with whom she shared 26½ years of marriage; her parents, Eva and John Davin; her sister-in-law, Deanna Malone; her half-sister, Paula Auer-Hudson; her son, Robert Hill, Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Constance Hill; and her son-in-law, Mark Gerhardt.
She is survived by her brother, Joe Malone of Tucson, Arizona; her daughter, Kathryn Gerhardt of Olathe, Kansas; and her daughter, Karen Bruns and husband Mark of Omaha, Nebraska.
Dixie was a cherished grandmother to Mandy Farwell (Jason), Jared Bruns, Kelly Metoyer (Bryan), Jenny Edwards (Mat), Kim Gerhardt-Whiddon (Jason), Ian Hill (Melissa), Drew Hill (Bethany). She was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, as well as nephews Sean Malone and Eric Malone (Callie) and five great-nieces and nephews.
Dixie was a loving mother and grandmother who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was passionate about sports, especially the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and KU Basketball.
Above all, Dixie was a loving, caring, and devoted woman whose greatest joy was her family. She had a special way of making everyone around her feel loved, welcomed, and cared for. Her kindness, strength, and unconditional love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Dixie will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her.

Visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131 on August 20, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location on August 20, 2026 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery South.
